I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting Ernesto Carrillo when I purchased this at my local tobacconist shop. While meeting with him I was smoking his newer release The Dusk . Right away you see the dark Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper contrasting against the beautiful blue and gold band. Ecuadorian Sumatran binder and Nicaragua filler contributes to this cigars full flavored, medium to full bodied smoke. The first third offer notes of caramel, fruits, and leather that fill the pallete with a cool clean smoke. About halfway down the cigar you pick up black pepper and spices which only furthers the complexity of this cigar. Even burn, and no draw issues whatsoever. The last third kept it's composure and the black pepper intensified, by the end of the last third it started burning a little hot so I left the cigar on the ashtray rest and walked away satisfied.
It is a multi-layered smoke with anticipaticipating transitions. I would recommend pairing it with a dark beer or a golden rum or cognac. I paired it with a glass of special select barrel of Knob Creek. The caramel and leather notes in the cigar will compliment the flavors of a dark full bodied beverage. The cigar comes in four different vitolas and reasonable prices.

The inspiration behind this cigar starts with Ernesto Perez-Carrillo paying homage to his long time tobacco grower and broker Silvio Perez who helped introduce Ernesto to the plethora of Nicaraguan tobacco at his disposal. E.P. Carrillo Dusk line of cigar are packaged in 20-count boxes and are rolled at the Tabacalera La Alianza S.A. factory in the Dominican Republic. Find them at your local tobacconist or cigar shop, you won't regret it.
